False Travels began and continues to exist largely as a one man operation, started as a way to keep rusty old writing skills from falling into total disrepair. We’ve picked up a few extra writers along the way, and covered a whole mess of different topics, but we may actually be starting to find some focus and a voice. I’d say it’s in your best interest to stick around and find out what happens next.
We write about the things that interest us. Video games and gaming culture. Science fiction, whether it’s found on TV, at the movies, or on pages (be they dead trees or electronic). Gadgets, phones, computery bits, and anything else that gives us access to the content we crave. Really, anything related to the stuff above and more is fair game.
So why False Travels? The phrase is tied to the notion that by consuming fictitious content we are transporting ourselves to other worlds, becoming other people, fighting other battles, and in general traveling away from the sometimes mundane world we are anchored to day in and day out. But these journeys are by their nature false; we go nowhere, we’ve not left the couch or the chair or living room, and our minds must eventually settle back into reality. We must return from our False Travels.
