As you may have gathered from my preview, I’m pretty excited for Bethesda’s upcoming FPS/parkour/RPG, Brink. So when I learned that they were pushing the release of the game forward a week, it put me in a good mood all day, though I’m curious about what drove the decision to pull in. While I don’t know whether or not the build I played at PAX East was final, you certainly could have fooled me with it; they couldn’t have been that far from getting to stamping discs. Being new to industry “reporting,” I don’t know long it takes to get from an RTM build to actually having boxed copies at a store or ready for shipment. Perhaps things are going smoothly and we get to reap the benefits.
Also possible? That Bethesda is giving Brink a little breathing room from the high profile L.A. Noire and The Witcher 2 releases. The week of the 17th was getting a little crowded, not to mention F.3.A.R. coming in the following week. I wouldn’t be surprised if the idea was to open up a little space for a game that many people aren’t completely sold on just yet.
I remain sold. To prove it, have a video of some of the various class abilities you can acquire in the game in action. I chuckled at the Self-Resurrection. Enjoy.
