Nothing like an “alarmist” headline to kick things off. Heh…air quotes. Anyway, my Xbox 360 died last last weekend. I had hoped that after four years of unbroken gaming goodness (unless you count that time I played Blue Dragon [such unfulfilled potential!]…blegh), that my bulky old box was impervious to the infamous Red Ring of Death…but as I turned it on after breakfast on Saturday, my great day of gaming, my heart was broken. The deadly rings danced across my console, and I wept. So now the “coffin” is on the way from Microsoft, and I can only hope that they send me one of the newer, better consoles to replace my fallen digital companion.
In the interim, my PC and good old fashioned wood pulp have offered me support in this, my time of need. Fallout 3 has proven to be quite an enjoyable time-sink (I’ve been tweaking some settings with with my systems fans, and haven’t had that annoying spontaneous blank screen lock-up issue since), and I read Joss Whedon’s The Astonishing X-Men, which proved to be pretty amazing, in my humble, non-connoisseur opinion. Speaker for the Dead, the sequel to Ender’s Game, is proving to be very different from it’s predecessor, but no less enjoyable.
Where have I been for the better part of a month, you ask? Well, don’t. That’s for False Notes to discuss. I shall endeavor to discuss some of the tech/gaming stuff I’ve been up to since my last post in the coming days. Stay tuned.
